In July 2003, Careside Medical LLC ("CareMed"), a new company, purchased most of the assets of Careside, Inc. Its primary product, the Careside Analyzer, is a sophisticated desktop point-of-care blood analyzer, and its proprietary cartridges.

The Analyzer performs 41 common blood tests, gives test results within 10 to 15 minutes, stores the data for up to 1,000 patients, and was priced substantially below its competitors.

The Analyzer had FDA approval, was operational in 97 different locations in the fourth quarter of 2002. Careside sold 40,723 cartridges in the last three months of 2002.
